The effect of payoff, cooperation index, context and game type in trust game

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of payoff, cooperation index, context and game type in trust game. One hundred and eighty five students were randomly assigned to one of the 3 cooperation index (high, medium, or low) X 3 context (selfish, reciprocal, or altruistic) experimental conditions. The experiment included prisoner’s dilemma and trust games. Players played 9 (cooperation index) X 2 (payoff) prisoner’s dilemma games , 3 (payoff) X 6 (cooperation index) trust games which the player made choice after opponent, and 3 (payoff) X 3 (game type ) X 3(cooperation index) trust games which the player made choice first. Results showed that when payoff was high, the player would be selfish. When the context was selfish the player would make an internecine decision to revenge. The player would be more cooperative on high cooperation index game than low cooperation index game. The player seemed not be affected by previous games and previous opponents.
