The first part is to observe the duality and hysteresis phenomena over a porous cylinder, in which the fuel is ejected from the forward half surface. It indicates that the duality phenomenon of counterflow flame exists in the different processes, such as increasing or reducing inflow velocity. The state of such system is decided by the operating procedures and the initial conditions of the system. The second part investigates the interference phenomena of twin Tsuji Burner flames. The temperature profiles along the centerline between two burners for specific spacing (L) are used to depict the flame interaction. The inflow velocity is fixed at Uin = 0.48 m/s and the fuel ejection rate is at Vw = 2.6 cm/s. As L > 2.5D (diameter of cylindrical burner), the temperatures along the centerline are equal to ambient temperature, implying that the two flames do not interact each other. When the spacing is decreased from 2.5 D to 1.2D, the flame interference gradually becomes apparent and the merge point moves toward the upstream. It is followed by the measurements of the transition velocity as a function of intercylinder spacing under Vw = 1.23 cm/s. It is found that the transition velocity is higher as the separation distance is smaller between 1.2D £ L£ 2.5D. As L > 2.5D, the transition velocity is found to retain a constant value due to no interaction between the twin flames.
