The Study of Agent-Based Order Exchange Model of IC Foundry

In the highly competitive semi-conductor industry, how to satisfy the customers' needs has become an important issue. This research is to construct an agent-based order exchange system. The constructed system can automatically exchange the customer’s newly input order by considering the conditions of manufacturing process, due-date, and other requests from the customer. The agent-based system can select a list of names from the production capacity owner of the Fab and then evaluate the opportunity cost to get the production capacity. Such result can be provided for the Fab as a decision making reference when they are dealing with customers. The objective of the system is to support the Fab and the customers to have a three-wins situation. That is, the Fab can fully utilize its production capacity, the customers who can yield further production capacity may get extra profit, and the customers who need production capacity can get what they want. The agent-based order exchange system is implemented by using the component-object based model as the kernel. The website presentation was adopted for easy-operation. The SQL server was used to storing all the resources for the system to support the auto-order exchange operation. Simulation result showed that the implemented prototype system worked quite well.
