This method requires the accurate estimation of the rotor time constant which is used to calculate the angle of the rotor flux. This value widely varies with rotor temperature and flux saturation. So, recently, the technique of compensation or the parameter identification method is used to obtain the ideal decoupled control. This paper proposes Recursive Least Squares (RLS) method to estimate the rotor time constant. The method bases on the model of induction motor, measures the stator voltages and currents and the rotor speed to estimate the rotor time constant. The proposed method identifies the rotor time constant with a good accuracy at variable operation enviroment. Simulation results point out the validity of our proposed method.
